A Non-Governmental Organization in Formal Consultative Relations with UNESCO
The International Council for Traditional Music Study Group on African Musics is pleased to announce its Third Symposium on the theme, “Dialogue of African musics and cultures through space and time”. The symposium will be hosted by the Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo, Mozambique) from 23-26 September, 2020.
This third meeting hopes to build on the successes of the first, which was held in 2015 at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, and of the second, which was held in 2018 at the Department of Music, School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon.
The third symposium is open to all researchers, scholars and interpreters of Africa musical traditions and those of the African Diaspora. For further details, please the attached call for proposals.
Deadline for all individual papers and organized (i.e., fully formed) panels and roundtables is February, 15, 2020.
Deadline for notification of acceptance or rejection: Notifications will be sent by March 30, 2020.
