Online Business Meeting Minutes

15:00 p.m., 25th Sep. 2022 [Italian time]

 

This meeting was called by Prof. Leonardo D’Amico, the chair of Audiovisual Ethnomusicology SG, Prof. Jonathan Stock helped the SG run the meeting online.

 

Topic:

  1. Leonardo apologized for cancellation of SG business meeting that was supposed to be held in Lisbon during ICTM World Conference.
  2. The biennial symposium originally planned in Bologna 2020 was cancelled.
  3. Due to the financial problem, the Ethnomusicological Film Festival in Florence has to be cancelled so far.
  4. The work for the proceedings of the 2nd symposium will be continuing, the volume should’ve published around June 2023 if everything goes well.
  5. The symposium will be held biennially. The location of next symposium will be changed from Bologna to University College Cork from 1st  to 3rd September, 2023 with open theme, this decision will need further confirmation from the University side. Shanghai Conservatory of Music and University of Palermo are candidates for symposium in future.
  6. We will have three committee: 1. Program Committee: Dario Ranocchiari, Sonja Kieser and Zhiyi Qiaoqiao Cheng; 2) Film committee: George Murer, Yoshitaka Terada and Nepomuk Riva; 3. Local arrangements committee including Jonathan Stock and Leonardo D’Amico.
  7. After the online election, the new executive board is: Leonardo D’Amico (Chair), Marija Dumnić Vilotijević (Vice Chair), Zhiyi Qiaoqiao Cheng (General Secretary).
  8. Sonja Kieser will be one of the jury members in next Carpitella Fellowship.
  9. The chair of ICTM Prize Committee Brian Dietrich will consider to take at least one member of Audiovisual Ethnomusicology SG to be the jury of ICTM Film and Video Prize, and the chair of our SG should be the chair of the Film Prize.
  10.  A new annual journal, the Journal of Audiovisual Ethnomusicology (JAVEM) sponsored by Society for Ethnomusicology is now welcome submissions.
  11. Sanubar Baghirova suggested a roundtable theme: The estimation and value of audiovisual Ethnomusicology.
